"Music...will help you dissolve your perplexities and purify your character and sensibility, and in times of care and sorrow will keep a fountain of joy alive in you."

THE hpm benefit concert

the music study

The Healing Power of Music began as a yearly event to help raise funds for two organizations, the cancer survivorship programs of The Prevention and Research Center at Mercy Medical Center and The Maryland State Boychoir. Since its inception in 2008, the Healing Power of Music has not only helped to successfully sustain the programs of these two groups, both vital in the greater Baltimore community, but has expanded to support the role that music plays in medicine and healing with research studies like the MusIC study and programs that offer music therapy.

We believe, and research has shown, that music can impact a person mentally and spiritually as well as physically. Experience the healing benefits of music for yourself! Join the Healing Power of Music Chorus (adjacent),  attend our annual benefit concert event, or watch a video of the Maryland State Boychoir. We hope that you will find, like many researchers and artists have, that music really does have a healing power.

Every year, The Prevention and Research Center and The Maryland State Boychoir host a benefit concert to raise money for cancer support groups and the Boychoir. Learn more...
